This is a match between two teams that used to be classified as world-elite. However, this season hasn’t been kind to either, with long title droughts and very concerning results over the last couple of months.

Both teams have struggled against both strong and weaker opponents, showing no sign of consistency. And with neither team showing any improvement ahead of PGL Masters Bucharest, a scrappy affair is likely on the cards.

G2 Esports Need to Find Traction

G2 Esports haven’t been great of late, and even that’s an understatement. They have not won a trophy since April and have been largely underwhelming in most of their recent tournament appearances.

However, G2 have shown some signs of life in September with a runner-up finish at FISSURE Playground #3. Unfortunately, they failed to keep the momentum going and crashed out of ESL Pro League Season 24 in 12th-14th place.

G2 Esports are 1-4 from their last five, with a win against ShindeN and losses against Legacy, Natus Vincere, 1w Team, and PARIVISION. This is concerning, but G2 showed strong form at FISSURE Playground in September, so they still have something going for them.

Natus Vincere Are Struggling

Natus Vincere are in an unenviable spot, having found themselves in 29th place in the VRS standings, following a long stretch of poor showings. They have not won a tournament since Intel Extreme Masters Atlanta in May. Since then, NaVi have not once placed inside the top six across six tournaments.

That long stretch includes a ninth-11th place finish at ESL Pro League Season 24 and a last-place finish at StarLadder StarSeries Fall.

Results-wise, Natus Vincere have won just three games from their last 11 games – against paiN Gaming, G2 Esports, and 9z Team – which is worrying, especially considering how toothless NaVi have looked when faced with stronger teams.

PGL Masters Bucharest is an important event for Natus Vincere, who need a strong placement to have a chance to qualify for the next Major. But while the motivation to perform is there, the form is seriously lacking.

Verdict

G2 Esports v Natus Vincere

Natus Vincere have been struggling for months now. They’ve won just three games from their last 11 outings, and while some of those losses came against stronger teams, some also came against much weaker teams.

G2 Esports are not in the best shape either, as they’ve not won a tournament since April. Even their recent form is lacking.

This is a match between two teams who are in concerning form, and it should play out as such.
