Besiktas vs Crystal Palace Preview

Besiktas are in-form at home and are flying high in the Europa League. Crystal Palace are lacking solidity under Pierre Sage and Besiktas can secure another home triumph.

  • Crystal Palace have lost their last 2 away matches.

H2H

This will be the first-ever meeting between Besiktas and Crystal Palace.

Besiktas Impressive in the Europa League

Turkish side Besiktas are a hard-to-beat side and have won 12 of their 16 matches in the 2026/27 campaign. Vincenzo Italiano’s team have won seven of eight Europa League fixtures, including qualifiers.

The Black and Whites have won nine consecutive home games, including a 4-1 victory over Marseille in the Europa League. Besiktas dominated with 2.93 XG and seven shots on target.

The Istanbul side moved up to fourth in the Europa League group following a 3-2 triumph at Hoffenheim. Michael Murillo and Hyeon-Gyu Oh scored in the second half and Besiktas had 3.33 XG.

The Black and Whites lost 2-0 at Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig last time out. Besiktas had chances with 19 shots and conceded either side of half time without reply.

Sage Under Pressure at Crystal Palace

Pierre Sage is under scrutiny at Crystal Palace following some poor recent results. Palace have failed to win in five of their last seven and have conceded 14 goals.

One of the Eagles’ rare victories was a 4-0 Europa League home win against Lech Poznan. Sage’s side followed that result with a 0-0 draw at Leeds and a 2-0 friendly loss to Bristol City.

Palace returned from the international break with a 3-1 home victory over Nottingham Forest. The Londoners couldn’t build on that win and lost 3-2 at Lyon, allowing 2.05 XG and facing four big chances.

The Eagles were thrashed 5-0 by their rivals Brighton on Sunday. Palace conceded three goals in the first 10 minutes, had -1 XG and shipped two more in the second period.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Besiktas (4-1-4-1): Alexander Nubel; Michael Murillo, Emmanuel Agbadou, Emirhan Topcu
Ridvan Yilmaz; Salih Ozcan; Vaclav Cerny, Junior Olaitan, Fabio Miretti, Leandro Trossard; Dusan Vlahovic

Midfielder Orkun Kokcu missed the Trabzonspor match and is an injury doubt for Palace. Attacker Milot Rashica is also unlikely to feature due to injury.

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Walter Benitez; Chris Richards, Axel Disasi, Jaydee Canvot; Anan Khalaili, Adam Wharton, Quinten Timber, Tyrick Mitchell; Ismaila Sarr, Yeremy Pino; Jorgen Strand Larsen

Defensive trio Ben Chilwell, Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu are injured and unavailable.

Dean Henderson is an injury doubt. Pierre Sage was unsure about the goalkeeper’s condition recently and said, “for the moment we hope, we expect it, but we don't know."

Verdict

Besiktas have shown their quality in the Europa League this season. The Turkish side can comfortably beat out-of-form Crystal Palace on Thursday.
