H2H - First Meeting

This will be the first-ever meeting between Lech Poznan and Sunderland.

Lech Poznan Are Wide Open

Lech Poznan have been high-scoring in the 2026/27 Europa League. The Polish team averages 4.17 goals across six games, including qualifiers.

The Railwaymen lost 4-0 away at Crystal Palace in their Europa League opener, allowing 2.23 XG. Big back-to-back Ekstraklasa wins came next against Radomiak Radom 5-1 and Slask 4-1.

Poznan couldn’t maintain momentum and were thrashed 4-0 at home against Bayer Leverkusen. They were 3-0 down at half time and faced 22 shots.

Niels Frederiksen’s side replied with a commanding 6-1 league victory against Korona at home. Patrik Walemark scored in the fourth minute and Pablo Rodriguez, Mikael Ishak and Yannick Agnero also struck.

Sunderland Have Defensive Issues Away

Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland are BTTS regulars on the road. They have conceded 18 in their last nine away matches and failed to keep a clean sheet in that spell.

The Black Cats began their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 home triumph against AZ Alkmaar. Sunderland were in control with 2.96 XG and 20 shots.

The Wearside outfit then had a heavy 5-3 defeat at Man City and a 2-0 home loss against Brighton. Le Bris’ side hit back with a 2-1 comeback win over Torreense, where Jules Ahoka and Noah Sadiki scored in the last 25 minutes.

Sunderland’s away struggles continued on Sunday after a 2-0 defeat at Bournemouth. The Black Cats allowed 4.23 XG and conceded early in each half.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Lech Poznan (4-1-4-1): Mateusz Lis; Joel Pereira, Mateusz Skrzypczak, Terry Yegbe, Michal Gurgul; Radoslaw Murawski; Patrik Walemark, Antoni Kozubal, Pablo Rodriguez, Luis Palma; Mikael Ishak

Centre-back Wojciech Monka missed the Korona match and is an injury doubt here.

Defender Alex Douglas, midfielder Ali Gholizadeh and attacker Allahyar Sayyadmanesh are ruled out through injury.

Sunderland (4-2-3-1): Robin Roefs; Nordi Mukiele, Kevin Danso, Omar Alderete, Reinildo Mandava; Granit Xhaka, Noah Sadiki; Trai Hume, Chris Rigg, Enzo Le Fee; Timur Tuterov

Defensive pair Dan Ballard and Thomas Meunier are injured. Striker Wilson Isidor is also unavailable due to injury and winger Romaine Mundle is out with a knee issue.

Brian Brobbey could miss out again as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Regis Le Bris explained that the club would “not rush the process” of the striker’s recovery.

Verdict

Lech Poznan and Sunderland are in similar leaky form and neither side looks in good defensive shape. More Europa League goals are anticipated in Poland,
