Karmine Corp were not expected to do much at the Esports World Cup, and after one round of play, they’ve yet to prove anyone wrong.
Karmine Corp kicked off their EWC campaign with a clash against their regional rivals, Team Vitality, who handed them a bad loss, with 13-9 on Haven and 13-9 on Lotus. Karmine Corp managed to keep up the pace at times, but was ultimately outclassed.

Paper Rex were the pre-tournament favourites after a very promising run in the Masters London, where they won their second Masters trophy of the season. But despite the high expectations, PR started their Esports World Cup campaign with a reverse-sweep loss against NRG.
Paper Rex took the series lead with 13-9 on Fracture, but were toothless on Lotus (5-13), and could not find their footing on Breeze (10-13), after dropping eight rounds in the first half.
The performance on the day was below expectations for the Masters runners-up; however, Paper Rex must be fatigued, and they had to play one of the elite teams. A better performance on Saturday is to be expected.
