Rex Regum Qeon had a promising start to the season, ending VCT Pacific Kickoff in fourth place. But it’s been downhill for them ever since, and they placed fifth-sixth in Stage 1, which was far below expectations.
While RRQ showed some signs of life in the EWC qualifiers, where they bested Gen.G and DRX, they failed to carry over the momentum to the Esports World Cup, as Rex Regum Qeon had to admit defeat to 100 Thieves in the opening round of Group A.
It was not a particularly close game. Rex Regum Qeon were somewhat competitive on Ascent (10-13), but they completely collapsed on Breeze (5-13). With a performance like that behind them, it is hard to put too much trust in RRQ until they show a bit more.

EDward Gaming kicked off the tournament with a rough 1-2 loss against BBL Esports. Despite taking Lotus in overtime (18-16), EDG seemingly ran out of steam for the remaining two maps, as they could not find an answer for BBL on Ascent and Sunset, losing the two maps with 7-13 and 3-13, respectively.
It was one of EDward Gaming’s worst losses of the split, but not necessarily an indication of their strength or lack thereof.
