T1 have been on cruise control in the Play-In stage. They’ve already beaten Karmine Corp and Team Liquid, both 3-0, thus living up to their tag as one of the strongest teams attending the Mid-Season Invitational.
While T1 have beaten both KC and Liquid 3-0, they could’ve easily dropped at least one map in each of the two series. Notably, T1 were far behind Team Liquid on map two – trailing by over 6000 gold, and they still managed to turn it around. Against Karmine Corp, T1 should’ve again lost the second map.
Props to T1 for fighting their way back into losing games, but they’ve been showing a worrying trend of falling behind on some maps. While T1’s strong macro has proven enough for T1 to bounce back from those situations, they will get punished for it sooner rather than later.

Team Liquid lost the first game of the tournament against T1, but bounced right back with a 3-0 sweep of Deep Cross Gaming and Karmine Corp. The latter victory was a surprise, but a well-earned victory for Team Liquid, who were the better team on the day.
Admittedly, Karmine Corp underestimated Liquid and drafted poorly. But even if KC had drafted better, they would have been unlikely to find any success on the day.
The strong showing against Karmine Corp should give Liquid confidence ahead of their rematch with T1, against whom they played a relatively solid game in round one of the play-ins. Namely, the second map, Liquid should’ve won, and they even kept up the pace on the third.
Liquid hung in there with T1 last time out and should be more than capable of doing it again.
