Turkey's EuroVolley 2026 hopes are hanging by a thread after securing just one victory in the opening four rounds and currently sitting in 4th place in Group D.

Both losses came in the opening two matches against powerhouses Germany 3-1 and France 3-0, while their sole victory was earned earlier this week against Switzerland 3-0, limiting the opposition to 61 points in total.

The Crescent Stars were tagged massive favorites two days ago against one of the co-hosts, Romania, but were outplayed 3-1 in sets.

Latvia Still in the Playoffs Race

Latvia entered the tournament as one of the biggest underdogs but surprisingly snatched a 3-1 victory in the opening round against Romania.

After losing to European powerhouses Germany 3-0 and France 3-1, they battled against Switzerland yesterday. On paper, the Baltic side was tagged as a slight favorite but lost the encounter 3-1, which could prove very costly in the playoff race.

The Latvians played three friendly games to warm up for this tournament, losing to Ukraine 3-1 and Estonia 3-2, while their sole victory was earned against Slovakia 3-2.
