Turkey has adopted a highly focused strategy in their qualifying matches, and this approach is anticipated to continue as they face Switzerland in the final round. Given that Switzerland have no chance of advancing, the match is expected to be one-sided in Turkey’s favor. The recommendation is clear: Turkey are poised for victory, and spectators should expect a dominant performance.

Match Preview

With Biberovic, Şengun and Osman on the floor, Turkey shouldn’t have any problems securing another set of points against underdog Switzerland, but the question is whether it turns into a convincing win.

Turkey Hold a Perfect Record

Turkey have already secured progression and sit top of Group C with five straight wins, which also means they are very close to punching their ticket for Qatar in 2027.

They began with a commanding 93-71 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, followed by an 85-60 victory against Switzerland.

The toughest tests came against Serbia, winning 82-78 away with Tarık Biberović scoring 22 points, before sealing a 94-86 home win where he added 21 points and was named man of the match again.

Their roster was significantly strengthened on Friday by adding Alperen Şengün, but still struggled to beat Bosnia & Herzegovina, ultimately getting away with an 82-75 win in Zenica. Cedi Osman was the standout performer with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Switzerland Have Zero Wins

Switzerland have never qualified for the FIBA World Cup in the nation’s history and that is not going to change this time, sitting bottom of the table with zero victories and five defeats.

The closest they came to claiming a victory in these qualifiers was in the opening round against Serbia in Belgrade, holding a 23-point lead at half-time but collapsing later on and losing the encounter 90-86.

The Red Crosses were not competitive in the other three games, losing twice to Bosnia & Herzegovina 84-60 and 91-60, and to Turkey 85-60.

Switzerland hosted heavy favorites Serbia on Friday, had a solid first half (44-49) but couldn’t keep up with the Eagles and lost convincingly 97-73. Alex Schumacher was the top Swiss performer with 19 points.

Verdict

Turkey have taken a very serious approach to all of their qualifying matches so far and I don’t expect that to change in the final round against minnows Switzerland. The visitors have zero chance to progress, so I expect a one-sided clash.
