Tottenham and Aston Villa face off in north London, but both teams are currently lacking form and offensive threat in the Premier League. With neither side standing out, the matchup is expected to be closely contested and could end in a draw. Betting tips recommend backing the draw at 3.75 odds and predicting a 1-1 scoreline at 7.5 odds. The key conclusion is that a stalemate is likely, as both teams may struggle to break the deadlock.

Tottenham vs Hull Preview

Tottenham and Aston Villa are out of form in the Premier League following winless starts to the season. Both sides need points and a close-fought draw is likely.

Key Stats - Spurs on a Drawing Streak

  • Tottenham have drawn their last 2 matches.
  • Tottenham are winless in their last 2 home games against Aston Villa.
  • Aston Villa are winless in their last 4 Premier League games.

H2H

Tottenham have an 80-64 advantage against Aston Villa, alongside 36 draws.

Tottenham Picking up Draws in the EPL

Tottenham are 17th in the Premier League and have failed to win any of their opening four games in 2026/27.

Spurs began the new season with a 3-0 away defeat at Brentford and a 2-0 home loss against Newcastle.

The north Londoners picked up points after consecutive goalless draws with Nottingham Forest and Everton. Roberto De Zerbi’s side had just two shots on target across both matches.

Tottenham’s poor start to the campaign continued on Tuesday after a 3-1 EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool. Spurs conceded either side of half time and Conor Gallagher pulled a goal back before Liverpool struck a late third.

Aston Villa Off to a Slow Start This Season

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are inside the Premier League’s relegation zone after gaining one point this season.

Villa lost their first two matches, 4-0 at Brighton and 1-0 at home to Arsenal. The Villans sole point came from a 0-0 away draw at newly promoted Hull.

The Birmingham side showed improvements in a 3-2 Champions League triumph at Club Brugge. They couldn’t build on that victory and conceded in the 91st minute in a 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Emery’s team comfortably beat Coventry 3-1 in the EFL Cup last time out. Tammy Abraham scored twice and Ross Barkley also found the net as Villa dominated with 2.69-0.67 XG.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Antonin Kinsky; Archie Gray, Jan Paul van Hecke, Micky van de Ven, Andy Robertson; Rodrigo Bentancur, Sandro Tonali; Savio, Conor Gallagher, Omar Marmoush; Domnic Solanke

Attackers Mykhailo Mudryk and Wilson Odobert are unavailable due to injury. Midfielders Dejan Kulusevski and Xavi Simons are also injured and won’t feature.

Pedro Porro is expected to return from a muscular issue against Aston Villa. Robert de Zerbi confirmed the defender’s availability after the Liverpool game.

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Zion Suzuki; Matty Cash, Victor Lindelof, Tyrone Mings, Matteo Ruggeri; Boubacar Kamara, Ross Barkley; Emiliano Buendia, John McGinn, George Hemmings; Nicolas Jackson

Defenders Pau Torres and Ian Maatsen are ruled out with injuries. Forward Brian Madjo and midfielder Leon Goretzka are sidelined due to injury.

Marco Bizot came off injured against Coventry and is doubtful for the Tottenham match. Unai Emery explained the goalkeeper’s back issue was “not a big injury”.

Verdict

Tottenham and Aston Villa have been unthreatening in the Premier League and both sides are struggling for form. Spurs and the Villans can cancel each other out in north London.
