Team Spirit are one of the main favourites to win PGL Masters Bucharest after proving their worth in the recent big events. However, in ESL Pro League S24, Spirit have looked off, suggesting they are slowing down.

On the other side, BetBoom Team have been fairly mediocre this season, but have started to ramp up in the recent weeks, namely in the Thunderpick World Championship. So even though BB Team still have a lot more to prove, their recent improvement should give hope that BetBoom can do some damage on Saturday.

Team Spirit Need to Find Traction

Team Spirit are one of three main title contenders at PGL Masters Bucharest. They’ve proven their worth over the last six months, and especially more recently, with gold medals from the Esports World Cup and BLAST Open Fall.

Spirit were less successful at ESL Pro League Season 24, finishing in fourth place. While a solid placement, Spirit didn't look as potent as they did in previous tournaments, which could indicate they’ve slowed down a bit.

That said, their iffy results of late are not a major concern, especially in the group stage, where Spirit will face mostly lower-rated teams who typically don't trouble them. Their real test will begin in the playoffs.

BetBoom Team Are Waking Up

BetBoom Team have been relatively quiet this season, failing to accomplish anything spectacular in bigger events. They, however, have started to make some noise of late, with a semifinal run at FISSURE Playground #3 and a runner-up finish at Thunderpick World Championship 2026.

At TP World Championship, BetBoom played some of their best games in months, beating PARIVISION, Legacy, and Team Falcons. Moreover, they forced a very close game against FURIA (2-3) in the grand finals, proving that they can perform against tier-1 teams.

It remains to be seen whether BetBoom can keep playing at this level heading into PGL Masters Bucharest, but they have been showing glimpses of greatness.

Verdict

Team Spirit v BetBoom Team

Team Spirit are one of the most successful and stacked teams in the world; however, they did not look great at ESL Pro League Season 24, and they are known to start tournaments slowly. So there is a world where Spirit will not be as dominant in the first round as expected, especially against a capable team like BetBoom.

BetBoom Team have a lot to prove as they’ve not accomplished much this year. But their performances in FISSURE Playground and Thunderpick World Championship were promising, and indicate that BB Team are gaining some traction.

With Spirit slowing down and BetBoom ramping up, there is a good chance this turns int a competitive game.
