The Buffalo Bills, buoyed by Josh Allen’s strong Week 1 performance, are set to host the Detroit Lions at their new home after both teams opened their season with high-scoring wins. The Bills are tipped to cover the spread following a 36-31 road victory over Houston, while the Lions nearly blew a 21-point lead but rallied to defeat New Orleans 31-30 in overtime. With Buffalo leading the all-time series and demonstrating offensive prowess, the key recommendation is to back the Bills to win and cover at home.

Buffalo are tipped to cover the spread as they win their first proper outing at their new home.

Josh Allen was dealing in Week 1, and that spells big trouble for a Lions team that saw its secondary get gashed by the Saints as they a blew big lead before rallying in overtime.

Detroit Lions 1-0 Despite Blowing Big Lead

Detroit head to Buffalo with a 1-0 record, having rallied from blowing a massive lead to beat New Orleans 31-30 in overtime.

The Lions held a 21-point lead with less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, only to give up two scores before the end of that period to let the Saints back into the game.

The hosts were then outscored 10-3 in the fourth, leaving the game locked at 24-24 at the end of regulation.

Amon-Ra St Brown put Detroit back in front in overtime, and they were able to close out the victory when the Saints failed to convert a two-point attempt after Noah Fant’s score.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff went 26/39 for 206 yards and two touchdowns, while Jahmyr Gibbs racked up 156 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Buffalo Bills Won Shootout With Houston In Week 1

Buffalo go into their first regular season game at their new home stadium having made a successful start to the season on the road.

The Bills kicked things off with a trip to face a talented Houston team, and came away with a 36-31 victory.

The two teams went back and forth before Josh Allen finally settled matters with 196 seconds left on the clock, hitting Josh Palmer for the game-winning 34-yard score.

Allen finished the game 20/29 for 334 yards and two touchdowns, as he threw the football to seven different players.

Dalton Kincaid led the way in receiving yards, putting up 130, while new wide receiver DJ Moore marked his debut with 100 yards and a score.

Verdict

Detroit’s offense stalled at times and the defense had issues with Tyler Shough and the Saints in Week 1 – that has to be cause for concern going into a visit to Buffalo.

Josh Allen looked sharp as this Bills offense hung 36 points on a very good Texans defense, and with home advantage here, we expect the hosts to both win and cover the spread.
