North Carolina Take Perfect Record To Death Valley

North Carolina head back out on the road with an unbeaten record, having won back-to-back non-conference games.

The Tar Heels kicked off the campaign with a trip to Ireland to face a TCU team that wrecked Bill Belichick’s debut last year, and they got a measure of revenge for that loss.

In a game dominated by defense, UNC scored 12 unanswered points to erase an early deficit and claim a 15-10 win.

North Carolina’s second win was more convincing, albeit the 35-3 victory came against weaker opposition in East Tennessee State.

Quarterback Billy Edwards went 15/20 for 244 yards and two touchdowns, with Jelani Thurman his leading receiver with 71 yards and a touchdown.

Clemson Rebounded From Season-Opening Loss

Clemson go into their first conference game of the season looking to build on last week’s win in their home opener.

The Tigers made a miserable start to the season as they were blown out by LSU, 51-10, in primetime.

They rebounded from that loss at the first attempt, but it was still an underwhelming performance as they saw off Georgia Southern, 22-7.

Clemson took a 16-7 lead into half-time, and added just two more field goals after the restart to wrap up the victory.

Tait Reynolds, who replaced an injured Christopher Vizzina, went 16/27 for 178 yards, while wide receiver TJ Moore led the team with 103 yards and a score off seven grabs.

North Carolina @ Clemson

With both offenses spluttering at this time, this matchup will almost certainly be a defensive struggle.

For that reason we are taking the Tar Heels and the free points – it is tough to see Clemson hanging too many points on this tough UNC defense.
