Florida State head to Alabama on the back of their first defeat of the season and with Mike Norvell still firmly in the hotseat.

The Seminoles enjoyed a winning start to the campaign, but it was an underwhelming performance from them as they beat New Mexico State 34-17 at home.

They then kicked off their ACC conference schedule with a home meeting with ranked SMU, and while they were not blown out, they did lose that matchup.

Florida State never led in the matchup and were eventually beaten by a 20-yard Nick Reed field goal with 21 seconds remaining.

In reality, SMU could – and probably would – have put the game to bed earlier had they not turned the ball over four times.

Alabama Take Perfect 2-0 Record Into Week 3

Alabama go into this matchup with a perfect 2-0 record, having record back-to-back convincing wins to start the season.

The Crimson Tide began their campaign against East Carolina and it was no surprise to see them come away with a 48-10 victory.

That set them up for their SEC opener in Kentucky on Saturday, and they faced stubborn resistance in the first half and trailed the Wildcats by three heading into the break.

However, Alabama took the game over after the break, scoring 32 unanswered points as their defense shut out the hosts.

Offensively Daniel Hill was the star of the show for the Crimson Tide, racking up 104 yards and one touchdown off 18 carries.

Verdict

Florida State @ Alabama

Alabama are yet to put together a full 60 minutes, but there have been promising signs through two games.

This defense was particularly impressive in the second half last weekend, and that unit can play a key role in helping the Crimson Tide win this game and cover the spread.
