The Dallas Cowboys are favored to bounce back against the Washington Commanders after both teams suffered losses in Week 1. Despite defensive concerns, Dallas holds a strong recent record against Washington, having won 8 of their last 10 meetings. Key offensive players for both teams struggled in the season openers, but the Cowboys’ firepower and head-to-head track record make them the recommended pick to cover the spread. Expect both offenses to see improvements, with Dallas considered the stronger team overall.

Dallas are tipped to cover as they rebound from a shocking loss on opening night.

The Cowboys defense is still a huge question mark, but the offense is better than it showed last week, and Dak Prescott & Co. are more than capable of pouncing on a poor Commanders ‘D’.

Washington Commanders Seeking First Win

Washington head out on the road to face a division rival for the second week in a row, and they do it on the back of a season-opening loss.

The Commanders kicked off the campaign with a visit to Philadelphia and suffered a 24-22 defeat at the hands of the Eagles.

They offense struggled through the first three quarters, producing just two scoring drives, and that rendered late touchdown grab from Antonio Williams mere consolation.

Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels finished the games 18/34 for just 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown, while offseason addition Stefon Diggs made four catches off nine targets for 55 yards and a score.

Dallas Cowboys Suffered Shock Loss In Week 1

Dallas go into their home opener having suffered a shock 28-20 defeat at the New York Giants in Week 1.

The Cowboys had been expected to come out on top in this big early division game, but the defense proved to be their Achilles heel, just like it was in 2025.

They gave up a touchdown in each quarter and allowed 394 total yards in the loss at MetLife Stadium.

Dallas’ offense had some teething problems too as Dak Prescott threw for only 175 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Javonte Williams was the leading rusher with just 41 yards and a score off 12 carries, but CeeDee Lamb led the receivers with 44 yards and a TD.

Verdict

Dallas’ offense hardly fired in Week 1, but we expect to see improvements in the home opener and that will be crucial.

Both teams will likely have to lean on their offense here, and we are taking a Cowboys team with the better quarterback and the better weapons.
