Serbia host Portugal at the Rajko Mitić Stadium in a crucial 2020 European Championship qualifier. Serbia’s suspect defence could be their undoing against a powerful Portugese attack led by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Serbia began their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 1-1 draw in Portugal before losing 5-0 in Ukraine. A 4-1 home win against Lithuania was secured with two goals to Aleksandar Mitrovic and one each to Luka Jovic and Adem Ljajic.

It wasn't enough to save manager Mladen Krstajić who was sacked with former Montenegro boss Ljubisa Tumbakovic taking over. This will be his first match in charge and it will be interesting to see his approach.

Serbia are led by captain Aleksandar Kolarov and have an abundance of attacking talent. Dušan Tadić and Adem Ljajić are dangerous wingers while strikers Aleksandar Mitrović and Luka Jović form a lethal strike force up front.

Serbia have lost three of their last five home matches in European Championship qualifying which puts a doubt on any home advantage. The hosts can be backed at 3.60 to beat Portugal while draw is currently priced at 3.10.

Portugal drew their opening two European Championship qualifiers, both at home including a 0-0 draw against Ukraine and 1-1 draw against Serbia. The Seleção bounced back by winning the inaugural UEFA Nations League tournament after defeating Switzerland 3-1 and Netherlands 1-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Switzerland with Gonçalo Guedes grabbing the winner against Netherlands. Manager Fernando Santos gave João Félix his debut from the start against the Swiss but he remained on the bench in the final.

Central defender Pepe is injured but Santos has options in Ferro, Rúben Dias and Daniel Carriço. Renato Sanches earned another call up but the central midfielder has competition in João Moutinho, William Carvalho, Bernardo Silva, Danilo Pereira, Pizzi, Bruno Fernandes and Rúben Neves.

Attackers Diogo Jota and Daniel Podence also earned call ups but will be lucky to see any playing time. Cristiano Ronaldo is always Portugal's key player, the Juventus forward has now scored 88 goals in 158 matches for his country and will be a popular pick at 3.75 in the first goalscorer market.

Bookmakers have Portugal priced at 2.15 to win in Serbia with a draw paying 3.10. It’s going to be a tough game in a hostile atmosphere but I think Ronaldo can inspire his nation again while BTTS is also on my betslip.

Portugal have a 2-0 advantage against Serbia with three draws in five encounters. The last meeting was a 1-1 draw in a Euro 2020 qualifier in March at the Estádio da Luz, a Dusan Tadic penalty putting Serbia ahead before Danilo Pereira’s equaliser. Ronaldo was forced off with an injury in the 31st minute which didn’t help Portugal’s chances.

Serbia have strength in attack but their defence including goalkeepers don’t inspire much confidence. I think they can score in Belgrade, but can they stop Portugal’s attack including Ronaldo?
